The Blind God - The Blind God statue

The Blind God Statue was an important part of the game. The statue, being the main focal point of the cave, was to resemble a being of higher importance which the player will visit to obtain their abilities.

The statue was to come across as peaceful, not eerie or intimidating. I looked at a lot of existing statue designs, specifically focusing on angellic or ghostly figures, and the stories behind them. For the most part, it was difficult not to capture a haunting presence in the statue.

By covering the face, I was able to evoke another layer of meaning within the statue, as well as subtle details in the cracks resembling eyes across the statue's head. The pose of the hands is open as if it is inviting one in for an embrace. The fingers are missing from the statue, which was done to symbolise the lack of ability that the god has - unable to do physical solely good, as well as solely bad.

The one power the God has is to give the player the good with the bad, and thus the abilities are given.

I created the High Poly in ZBrush, and the Low Poly in Blender. Texturing was done in Substance Painter and Adobe Photoshop.
